How can we help?

What devices does Family Board work on?

Family Board works on any device with a modern browser — iPads, Android tablets, Amazon Fire tablets, or any spare laptop or screen. For the best experience, use a landscape-orientation tablet and enable kiosk or guided access mode to keep the board on screen.

Which calendars are supported?

Family Board supports Outlook / Microsoft 365 and Google Calendar. You can connect one or both — events from all sources are merged into a single calendar view on your board.

How do points and goals work?

Each family member has a starting point total and an optional target. Points can go up or down, so Family Board works for chores, fitness targets, behaviour charts, or anything else your family tracks. You update points by tapping the family member's card on the board — protected by your parent PIN if one is set.

What's the difference between the daily list and family goals?

The daily list is for things that come round again — beds, reading, walking the dog. You choose which days of the week each one appears and they reset the next day. Family goals are the bigger plans, set by week or by month, and they can have a count against them ("film night, 2 of 4"). Monthly goals you don't finish are carried into the next month and marked as carried over.

Can I add our own recipes?

Yes. Write them in the Recipes page of your dashboard and add your own photos. They appear on the board with a search box, set at a size you can read from a step back. There's no limit on how many you add.

Can I change how the board looks?

There's a dark mode toggle in the top bar of the board itself, and it remembers your choice on that device. You can also upload a background photo from the Devices page in your dashboard, which sits behind the board with the cards laid over the top.

Can I use Family Board on multiple tablets?

Yes — you can connect as many tablets or screens as you like. All devices show the same information and update automatically.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to sign up.

What happens when my trial ends?

If you don't subscribe, your account will expire and your kiosk displays will stop showing new data. Your account and settings are retained for 30 days, so you can reactivate without losing anything.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel anytime from the Billing page in your dashboard. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period — you won't be charged again.

How do I set up kiosk mode on my tablet?

The exact steps vary by device. On iPad, use Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access). On Android, look for Screen Pinning or a dedicated kiosk mode app. On Amazon Fire, use the built-in Kids or Managed Home Screen mode. Searching for "kiosk mode [your device]" will give you the most accurate instructions.

My calendar isn't showing events — what should I do?

First, check that your calendar is connected in the Calendar Setup page in your dashboard. If it shows as connected, try disconnecting and reconnecting — the refresh token may have expired. If the problem persists, contact us at hello@familyboard.app.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Calendar data is fetched in real time on your device and is never stored on our servers. Your family configuration (member names, point totals, goals) is stored securely in an encrypted database. We use read-only calendar access — Family Board cannot create, edit, or delete calendar events.
