The kit on our wall
Family Board runs in a browser, so it works on almost any screen. If you'd rather buy a tablet for the job, this is exactly what we use — nothing more expensive than it needs to be.
Start with the tablet in your drawer
Most families already own something that will work. Before you spend anything, try Family Board on one of these — the trial is free and takes about five minutes to set up.
- Any iPad from roughly 2018 onwards
- Any Android tablet still receiving a browser update
- Amazon Fire tablets (use the Silk browser)
- An old laptop or monitor on a shelf
If you'd rather buy for the job
Three things, about £215 all in. We bought all of it ourselves, and it's what's on our kitchen wall right now.
The tablet
Lenovo Tab M11, 11in
around £189The 11-inch screen is the reason we picked it — big enough to read the week's calendar from across the kitchen without squinting. Anything from 10 inches up works well; below that the calendar gets cramped.
- 11in screen
- Sits well in landscape on a wall
- USB-C, so it can stay permanently powered
The wall mount
Universal tablet wall mount holder
around £9An adjustable holder rather than a moulded case, so it grips the M11 and would take a different tablet later if you swap. It holds the tablet clear of the wall and leaves the charging port free.
- Adjustable grip, fits most 9–11in tablets
- Leaves the charge port accessible
- Screw fixing into the wall
The cable
Flat USB-A to USB-C cable
around £18A flat cable sits neatly against the wall instead of coiling off it, and can be tucked behind a trunking strip or run along the skirting. Measure from the mount to your nearest socket before you order — it's the one thing people get wrong.
- Flat profile, sits against the wall
- USB-A end fits any standard plug
- Buy a length that reaches your socket with slack

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through the links on this page, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only list products we use ourselves, and the commission plays no part in what we recommend — you're very welcome to buy them anywhere else, or use a tablet you already own. Prices are a guide only and were last checked in September 2026; Amazon's change often.
